Slack – Copenhaver

St. Demetrios Hellenic Orthodox Church was the setting for the June 25, 2016, wedding ceremony uniting Jacqueline Marie Slack and Eric Allen Copenhaver in marriage. The Rev. Constantine Valantasis officiated the event, and guests were received at a reception at the Trumbull Country Club.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Gerald A. Slack of Niles. The groom is the son of Brent P. Copenhaver of Morgantown, W.Va., and Kathy Dunn of Akron.

Argero Mavrogianis, godmother and grandmother of the bride, performed the duties of Koumbara, and Brittany Skelly, future sister-in-law, attended as maid of honor. Bridal attendants were Sofia Mavrogianis, cousin of the bride, Erica Kelsen, Courtney Driscoll, Ashley Cook and Sarah Margelowsky. Junior bridesmaids and flower girls were Victoria Backus, niece of the bride and Norah Copenhaver, sister of the groom.

John Slack performed the duties of best man for the groom. Groomsmen included Alex Kelsen, Alex Modon, Eric Bobek, David Monahan and Joshua Bane. Drew Copenhaver, brother of the groom, was the stefana and tray bearer, and Angelos Backus, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer.

The new Mrs. Copenhaver graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Business Administration and Integrated Marketing Communications degree. She is a program manager specializing in new-hire onboarding with Google Inc. in Mountain View, Calif.

Mr. Copenhaver received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Akron and is pursuing a Ph.D. in physics from the University of California Berkeley.

Following a honeymoon to Maui and Kauai, the couple resides in Berkeley, Calif.
