Mr. and Mrs. Gary B. Smith of Howland celebrated their 50th anniversary last week. The couple exchanged anniversary gifts and they began their plans to travel to Las Vegas.
Gary and Carol were married Aug. 8, 1964, in Tod Avenue United Methodist Church in Warren by the Rev. Donald L. Cooper.
Both were graduates of Warren G. Harding.
Gary was a dog handler in Korea during his term in the U.S. Army and assisted with guard dog training in the area after his military term.
Carol earned her certification as Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) in 1974 and A+by ComTIA for computers in 2000.
Gary retired from the chemistry lab at Copperweld Steel in 1995 and Carol retired from Amweld Building Products in 1977.
Gary and Carol are well known for teaching numerous friends and locals their smooth R&B style of dance for more than 40 years, and they won many trophies from over the country for their dancing. They hope to be able to assist others in their R&B style of dancing in the future.
