Kenneth and Mary DeWeese of Champion Township celebrated their 50th anniversary this summer with family, dining at the Warren Chophouse in Howland.
They were married June 27, 1964, in Chesterland.
Ken graduated from Stoco High School in Coal City, W.Va., and entered the U.S. Army serving from June of 1958 to June of 1960.
Mary graduated from Jefferson Union High School in Richmond.
The couple moved to Champion Township in 1968 where they raised their children, a daughter, Lisa (Ty) of Bristolville and a son, Scott (Terrie) of Bazetta. They also have two grandsons.
Ken retired from General Motors in Lordstown, after 32 years. Mary also retired from GM after 24 years where she also served on the Community Services Committee.
Ken is a member of the UAW Local 1112 Retirees Workers Chapter and currently serves on the executive board as sergeant at arms. He is a member of the recreation committee for the UAW and is also a member of the Alliance for Retired Americans. He enjoys keeping active as a 22-year member of the YMCA and has volunteered for many fundraisers.
Since retiring, Mary enjoys homemaking and spending time with the family.
The couple has plans to travel to Niagara Falls, Canada, this year.
