Sutliff offers Railroad trips
“Travels on the Underground Railroad” is the theme of the Sutliff Museum’s eighth series of one-day bus tours, and three trips are planned to different locations in Ohio.
The trips are:
May 17 – Flushing, St. Clairsville and Mount Pleasant
Participants will visit Flushing’s Underground Railroad Museum, Mehl-man Cafeteria in St. Clairsville, and the Quaker town of Mt. Pleasant, where they will tour buildings where abolitionists aided escaped slaves and opened a school for free black children. The cost is $47 per person, and the reservation deadline is Saturday.
June 18 – Lake County
Participants will visit the Lake County Historical Society Museum, which includes a Civil War wing, and visit historic sites, like Painesville’s town square, where an abolitionist was tarred and feathered. A buffet lunch will be served at the museum’s Heritage Hall and is included in the cost, which is $57 per person.
July 17 – Sandusky
Participants will tour the Follett House Museum, the Cooke-Dorn House, the Maritime Museum and have time for shopping in the city’s historic downtown. The cost is $47 per person.
