SOLLEY SPEAKS TO OSTOMY GROUP: Lisa Solley of the Area Agency on Aging 11 Inc. will address the December meeting of the Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group.

Solley is site coordinator for the Aging Disability Resource Center and oversees the Area Agency on Aging’s wellness programs including Senior Olympics, A Matter of Balance for prevention of falls, chronic disease self-management and Healthy Ideas.

Sponsored by Humility of Mary Health Partners, the Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Maple Room at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, 8401 Market St., Boardman.

Meetings take place the second Tuesday of each month, March through December. They are free and open to individuals who have or will have ostomies, families and friends. Refreshments are provided and parking is free.

NEW VOICE CLUB TO MEET: The Mahoning Valley New Voice Club, a support group for laryngectomees and their families / friends, will hold its next meeting at 6 p.m. on Dec. 11, at the Youngstown Hearing and Speech Center, located in the Beeghly Medical Park, 6614 Southern Blvd., Youngstown.

CANCER SUPPORT GROUP TO MEET: A cancer support group meets 7 p.m. every third Thursday at Calvary Bible Church, 2878 Warren Meadville Road, Cortland.

CHAT WITH A CANCER EXPERT: Those who are seeking more information about a cancer diagnosis or treatment can chat with a cancer information specialist online at www.cancer.org. Trained professionals with the American Cancer Society can answer questions about specific cancers, treatment options, medications and local patient services.

ACCESS HEALTH HELPS UNINSURED: Access Health Mahoning Valley matches uninsured adults aged 19 to 64 who have household incomes below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines and don’t qualify for Medicaid, Medicare or other programs with no cost volunteer doctors in Trumbull and Mahoning counties. FREE LUNG SCREENINGS: Sharon Regional Health System is offering free lung cancer screenings as part of an ongoing community effort to aid in the early detection of lung cancer. The screenings are for individuals who meet criteria for being at high risk for developing lung cancer and include a chest CT study.

ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS: The Alzheimer’s Association will be holding their monthly Caregiver Support Groups on the following dates:

Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at Howland United Methodist Church, 730 Howland-Wilson Road N.E., Howland Township.

Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, 1350 East Market St., Conference Room F, Warren.

Free of charge. Open to all caregivers, family members, and friends with a loved one living with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

MOOD DISORDER SUPPORT GROUP EXPANDS TO TRUMBULL: Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance groups are open to anyone who is diagnosed with a mood disorder, has a family member or friend who is diagnosed, or who thinks they might have depression or bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression). The groups offer peer-to-peer support.

Meetings in Trumbull County will be held 5:30 to 7 p.m. Mondays, at the Community Solutions Association office, 320 High St. N.E., Warren.

Meetings in Youngstown will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays, at Help Hotline Community Center, 1344 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.

FLU SHOTS OFFERED: Niles City Health Department, 34 W. State St., is offering Flu shots from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., no appointment needed. Bring Medicare, medicaid, or Anthem Senior Advantage I.D. Cards. There will be a charge for all other HMOs.

IMMUNIZATION CLINIC: The Niles City Health Department, 34 W. State St., Niles, is offering an immunization clinic from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Those attending must have the child’s immunization records and the child must be feeling well and accompanied by an adult. No appointment is necessary.

GIRARD OFFERS FLU SHOT: The Girard City Health Department will offer flu vaccines between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the health department at 330-545-6048.

FLU CLINIC TO BE HELD: A flu clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. daily at Warren West Community Health Center, 716 Tod Ave., Warren. Walk-ins are welcome.

MONTHLY EXERCISE CLASSES: Exercise time with Lana – Mondays at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 and 10 a.m. This is a weekly group aerobic exercise class with a personal fitness trainer. Silver Slippers low impact exercise (chair and standing) takes place on Mondays at 10 a.m. and Thursday at 10 a.m. Zumba Gold classes are weekly at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

Thursday: Just Walk! Walk with A Doc, 8 to 9 a.m. This new monthly event will combine an informative talk and a walk around the Eastwood Mall with our local physicians. This month join Dr. Philip Starr and Dr. Kimberly Jackson. There will be free giveaways and refreshments.
