Jazz combos play at YSU

Dana School of Music will show off the talents of its jazz combos in a free concert tonight at Kilcawley Center’s Hub at Youngstown State University.

Three jazz quartets and one jazz trio, all led by Dana instructor Dave Kana, will perform a mix of jazz standards, Great American Songbook favorites and pop songs

A quartet featuring Trevor Banks, saxophone; Anthony Kunovic, guitar; Luke Hagerman, bass; and Bryan Teeters, drums, will play selections by Joseph Kosma & Jaques Prevert, Horace Silver, Milt Jackson and Kenny Burrell.

A quartet featuring Lauren Eisenreich, trombone; Al Troiani, guitar; Phoenix Horak, bass; and Roger Lewis, drums, will play tunes by Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Bart Howard and Toto.

A third quartet made up of Chris Rudzinskas, saxophone; Ben Holmes, piano; Gabe Talanca, bass; and Cory Grant, drums, will do songs by John Lewis, Thadd Dameron, Johnny Mandel & Johnny Mercer and Charlie Parker.

And a jazz trio featuring Ben Holmes, saxophone; Clay Colley, keyboard; and Nick Sainato, drums, will play music by Jonathan Kreitzberg, Pat Martino, Clay Colley and Stanton Moore.
