Sixteen artists win awards at TAG?Annual

Trumbull Art Gallery announced $1,900 in cash prizes for the 49th TAG Annual at the juried exhibition’s opening reception on Saturday.

Gail Trunick of Burghill won the $500 award for best in show for “Girl in Search,” a mixed clay and found objects piece. First prize honors ($350) went to Christine England for the watercolor and ink work “After the Flood;” second prize ($250) was awarded to Patrick Hernon for his pen, ink and pencil piece “Osprey O’Mine;” and third prize ($150) was awarded to Joy White for the mixed media work “Urban Reflection.”

Twelve additional artists received $50 each for honorable mention recognition: Suzanne Barsay, John Carlson, Carol Gallo (two honorable mention awards), Heidi Garwig, Tazim Jaffer, George Kocar, William Mannion, Glenn Morisue, James O’Malley, Lyle Siekkinen, Irena Waksmundzki and David Wood.

The award winners were determined by juror M.J. Albacete, executive director of the Canton Museum of Art. Albacete will give a gallery talk on the jury process at 1 p.m. Sunday at the gallery, 198 E. Market St., Warren.

The 49th TAG Annual will be on display through Aug. 23. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 330-395-4876.
