SCHOOL RETIREES TO MEET: Howland Schools Retirees will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Enzo’s, Elm Road. All retired Howland Schools employees, spouses and guests are welcome to attend the monthly lunch meetings.

Non-perishable food, paper goods and other items collected at the meeting will be delivered to Beatitude House. Attendees are requested to bring an item or two for the collection.

NILES SCOPE HOSTS CARDS: The Niles SCOPE Senior Center will hold its annual Card and Bingo Party from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. The cost is $5 per person and includes lunch. Square tables for four or rounds table for up to 8 are available.
Prizes will be awarded thanks to the donations of businesses in the community.

GUARDIAN ANGELS SEEK VOLUNTEERS: The Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for volunteers.
Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home. Angels are also involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make A Difference day projects.

SCOPE PLANS MONDAYS: Trumbull County has scheduled speakers for the Food for Thought luncheons for seniors 60 and older at the Warren SCOPE Center, 220 W. Market St.:

- June 10 – Garvin McCorkle, Family Nutrition Program Assistant, OSU Extension, will speak about ”Reading Food Labels.”
- June 17 – Sally Mazy, Trumbull Memorial Hospital, will speak about ”Senior Circle Program – Discount Program for Seniors.”
Seniors are welcome to come between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. for lunch. The speaker will follow the luncheon. Reservations are not required.

WARREN SCOPE OFFERS LUNCH: The Warren SCOPE Center, 220 W. Market St., has opened a coffee bar and lunch site at its facility and invites all Trumbull County seniors 60 and older to stop in. The site is open from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday for coffee and pastries and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for lunch.
Daily specials include hot and cold sandwiches and salads. A hot entree is offered on Thursday in addition to cold sandwiches.
NUTRITION SITES AVAILABLE: The Trumbull County Nutrition Program for the Elderly is provided by the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs and operates nutrition sites at 11 locations throughout Trumbull County. These sites provide a meal and the opportunity for socialization. Donations will be accepted.
Any senior citizen 60 or older and his or her spouse is welcome for lunch at any of the following sites:

TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE TO NUTRITION SITES: Area Agency 11 awarded a grant to Trumbull Community Action Program to transport senior citizens to the Nutrition Sites in Trumbull County that are operated by the Office of Elderly Affairs. Transportation is for people 60 and older or the spouse of someone 60 or older.
Persons wanting to use the service need to call TCAP at 330-395-2287 to schedule rides and the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs at 330-675-2486 to make meal reservations. Both calls need to be made prior to 3 p.m. two working days before they wish to go.
People will be asked to make a donation for both their ride (while on the van) and for their meal (while at the nutrition site).
