Mr. and Mrs. Luke J. Monteforte recently celebrated their 60th anniversary with a family dinner at the Olive Garden Restaurant.
Luke Monteforte and the former Yolanda Flaviano were married April 18, 1953, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles.
The couple have three sons, Gregory (deceased), Alan of Niles and Jeffrey (Sharlene) of Seven Hills. They also have four grandsons.
Mr. Monteforte retired after 30 years as a science teacher in the Weathersfield Local School District. He is a member of the Ohio Education Association and the Disabled American Veterans. He is a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army, and is a recipient of the Purple Heart. He holds a black belt in Tae Kwan Do.
He has been involved in many areas of the church and served as a lector for 45 years. He also served as a board member of the Niles Community Services. He enjoys gardening, crossword puzzles, traveling and casinos.
Mrs. Monteforte enjoys cooking, baking, crafts, gardening, collecting, traveling and casinos.
The couple will renew their wedding vows in June at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown.
