Packard hosts celebration of movie music

A salute to the music of the movies will be the next offering for in Warren Civic Music Association’s 2012-13 concert season.

“Hooray for Hollywood” is a touring version of the popular Branson, Mo., production, which was named Best New Show and Best Dance Troupe at the 2011 Branson Show Awards.

The show features famous song-and-dance moments and popular hits from such movies as “The Wizard of Oz,” “West Side Story,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Titanic,” “Grease,” “Dirty Dancing,” “The Blues Brothers,” “Chicago” and “Hairspray.”

A cast of 12 singers and dancers performs more than 40 songs and executes numerous costume changes.

Songs include “Putting on the Ritz,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “Goldfinger,” “Unchained Melody,” “Everything I Do,” “My Heart Will Go On,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Footloose,” “The Time Of My Life” and more.

“Hooray for Hollywood” will be staged at 7:30 p.m. March 7 at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren.

Tickets are $35 and can be ordered at 330-399-4885 or at the Packard box office the day of the performance.
