NY-PL: Scrappers sweep Muckdogs

BATAVIA, N.Y. – Though trailing early, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers were able to bounce back and pick up the 7-6 victory over the Batavia Muckdogs. With the win, the Scrappers picked up the series sweep.

Batavia had the 5-2 lead heading into the sixth inning, but the Scrappers scored four runs in that frame to take the lead for good. In the inning, Steven Patterson, Bradley Zimmer, Leo Castillo and Austin Fisher each drove in a run.

Castillo and Martin Cervenka each had two RBIs in the contest.

David Speer picked up the win after pitching 4 2/3 innings. He struck out six batters and allowed six hits. Luke Eubank picked up his third save on the year.

The Scrappers head back to Eastwood Field to begin the final home stand of the season tonight. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
