Scrappers handle Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, Md. — Will Benson drove in two runs to help Mahoning Valley get past Aberdeen Thursday to help the Scrappers to win their 10th series of the season, 5-1.

The Scrappers still are half-game behind West Virginia game in the New York-Penn League Pinckney Division standings.

In the top of the seventh, Ernie Clement started the inning with double, extending his hitting streak to 21 games. Nolan Jones followed and hit his third home run of the season — a two-run shot.

Felix Tati (4-3) earned the win with five innings of relief, walking one and striking out three.

The Scrappers return home tonight to host the Staten Island Yankees, starting at 7 p.m.
