Scrappers in 4-way tie for NY-PL’s Pinckney Division

FISHKILL, N.Y. (AP) — Samad Taylor hit a two-run home run and had two hits as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers topped the Hudson Valley Renegades 5-2 on Sunday.

The win puts the Scrappers (15-11) in a four-way tie for first in the New York-Penn League’s Pinckney Division with Williamsport (14-10), State College (15-11) and West Virginia (15-11).

Mahoning Valley went up 4-0 in the fifth after Taylor hit a two-run home run.

After Mahoning Valley added a run in the seventh on a double by Ernie Clement, the Renegades cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Taylor Walls hit a sacrifice fly and Matt Eureste scored on an error.

Elijah Morgan got the win with three innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Hudson Valley starter Austin Franklin took the loss. Cesar Ventura got his second save.
