Junior Masters finals today at Freeway

After 12 games of qualifying led by Susan Decker and Shon Moore, defending champions Jessica Guesman and Caleb Johnson are still in position to defend their championship titles in the 30th Warren Junior Masters bowling tournament.

The third block of four games of qualifying was rolled Saturday at Cortland Lanes and the top four girls and the top six boys advance for head-to-head competition, starting at 1 p.m. today at Freeway Lanes. They will compete for $600 in scholarship money.

Decker averaged 187 for her pinfall total of 2,254 to lead the girls qualifiers. Guesman was close behind at 2,227, Danielle Kyser rolled 2,204 and the final qualifying spot went to Katelyn Daugherty at 2,124.

Brianna Protain (1,907) and Isabelle Lincoln (1,749) also competed in the qualifying.

The boy’s division featured 17 bowlers. Moore’s total of 2,450 computed to a 204 average. The other five qualifiers are Charles Pawlosky (2,308), Adrian Willoughby (2,304), Johnson (2,266), Tavish Burd (2,259) and Mason Persons (2,246).

Blake Maurer finished just nine pins behind Persons, just missing out on a final berth. Also rolling were Kyle Scott (2,216), Nathan Kennedy (2,162), Domenic Veltri (2,161), Conner Pawlosky (2,125), Sebastian Ruddy (2,073), Logan Miskiewicz (2,043), Tyler Luoma (2,020), Nathan Zook (1,984), Justin Tucker (1,799) and Cody Clendenin (1,775).
