Howland girl wins event

HOWLAND – Gianna Clemente of Howland shot a 1-under par 71 over two 9-hole rounds to win the girls 7-under division of the U.S. Kids Golf Ohio State Invitational at Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club.

Clemente won the event last year and also won the Pennsylvania State Invitational June 22-23 at the Penn State University Blue Course. She was the 2015 Spring champion for girls 7-under in the U.S. Kids Cleveland local tour.

About 140 young golfers competed in the Ohio Invitational over the last two days at Avalon Lakes.

The tournament offers players from Ohio and surrounding states the opportunity to compete in a multi-day championship event and qualify for U.S. Kids Golf Priority Status. In earning different levels of Priority Status, players can qualify for other U.S. Kids Golf Major Championships including Regional, International, and World or Teen World Championships.
