Annual Youth Fishing Derby in Newton Falls

The Eagle Creek Conservation Club is announcing its annual Youth Fishing Derby to be held today.

The event will take place at the Newton Falls Community Center pond located at 52 East Quarry St. in Newton Falls. The derby is a free event open to all children ages 15 and under.

Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the contest will run from noon until 2 p.m.

Fish and Game Club of Vienna Fishing Derby

The Fish and Game Club of Vienna will be hosting a Youth Fishing Derby on June 14 beginning at 9 a.m.

This event is open to any youth who is interested in fishing. The club can provide poles if needed. An accompanying adult is necessary. Prizes will be given out. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.

Marksmanship program to be held

Western Reserve Fish and Game Association will be holding a civilian marksmanship program, which is open to any student from a school that does not have a competitive shooting team and is between the ages of 10 and 18 years old.

The cost is $5 per week with an additional $25 that covers all major competition events.

The association will supply the training, ammunition, awards and travel. Parents do not need to be club members for their child to participate. Practice is every Monday in either the late afternoon or early evening.

Shooters, Scooters Poker Run to be held June 7

Western Reserve Fish and Game Association will be holding its third annual Shooters and Scooters Poker Run. Proceeds from the run go to the club’s civilian marksmanship program.

The run will be held June 7, with the rain date of June 8. Cost is $10 per rider and $5 per passenger.

Ironman Clay Bird Shoot on July 20

The Leetonia Sportsman’s Association, along with the Independence Fund, will host an Ironman Clay Bird Shoot to help buy an All Terrain Wheelchair for a wounded veteran on July 20. The event will be held on the club grounds at 311 East High Street in Leetonia.

The three events are: 50 bird trap for $15; 25 bird five stand for $5; 50 bird sporting clays for $15; or all three for $30. Prizes will be awarded.

A kitchen will be available on site to purchase refreshments. For shooters and non-shooters there will be a chinese auction, raffles and a 50/50 drawing. Additional events are being planned for non-shooters.

Archery shoot to be held at Beaver Creek

The Beaver Creek Sportsman’s Club will hold a 3D archery shoot on June 7 and 8. The club is located at 14480 Washingtonville Road, Washingtonville.

Cost for adults is $10. and for children ages 11 through 15 the cost is $5. Children under 10 are admitted for free.

Registration is from 8 a.m. through 1 p.m. both days.

Gun show to be held June 7-8 in Hubbard

The Hubbard Conservation Club Gun Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 7 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 8 at the clubhouse and grounds, 1760 Wick-Campbell Road, Hubbard.

Categories of items available to sell or trade include: Guns, hunting gear, knives, shooting, archery, sporting equipment, fishing supplies, hunting clothes and dog accessories.

There will be raffles and giveaways throughout the day. Food will be available for purchase.

Vendor slots are still available at $20 per 8-foot table for both days in advance or $25 at the show.

The public is invited to come and get the bargains with adult cover charge of $4. Children under 12 when accompanied by adult are free.
