Pavlik, Sefcik highlight All-Ohio lists
To go along with the numerous accolades she’s already received throughout her high school career, Lakeview senior Alli Pavlik can add a first-team All-Ohio honor in basketball to the list.
The Associated Press released its girls All-Ohio teams in Divisions I and II on Monday, and Pavlik was the only area player to earn a first-team honor in either division by making it in Division II.
The 5-foot-7 guard averaged 26.9 points per game, the highest among any player on the all-Ohio teams for both divisions.
Pavlik also accumulated six steals, 3.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game in leading the Bulldogs to a 20-2 regular-season record and an All-American Conference, National Division title.
Struthers senior McKenna Shives made the third team in Division II, while teammate Ashleigh Ryan earned honorable mention. Lakeview’s Calli Schmitt also received an honorable mention nod.
Austintown Fitch’s Megan Sefcik earned third-team All-Ohio honors in Division I. The 5-9 senior averaged 19.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5 assists and 4.2 steals per game in her final season as a Falcon. She also shot 87.8 percent from the free-throw line, the highest of anyone in the AAC, American Division. She also led the Falcons to a league title.
Warren G. Harding’s Maya Bell and Canfield’s Rachel Tinkey received honorable mention to round out local players’ honors.
The AP will release the All-Ohio teams for Divisions III and IV today at 6:30 p.m., while Ms. Basketball will be crowned on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
The boys all-Ohio teams will come out next Monday for Divisions I and II and next Tuesday for Divisions III and IV.
