GOLF NOTICES

CANDYWOOD WEDNESDAY NIGHT MEN’S GOLF LEAGUE is looking for one team for the upcoming season. If interested, contact the golf course at 330-399-4217 or 330-652-1222.

THE CANFIELD GOLF LEAGUE is looking for new members for the 2014 season that opens on April 23 at Flying B Golf Course. The league has been in operation for 50 years and plays on Wednesday nights. The league is unique because the members do not play head-to-head every week, instead golfers are assigned to teams and the low net scores are used to compute points that are awarded for that week. YANKETTES WOMEN’S LEAGUE will have openings for the 2014 season. Play begins May 7 and goes through Aug. 27 at Yankee Run. If interseted call Patty at 330-448-8096.

THE PACKARD ELECTRIC LADIES GOLF LEAGUE is holding its membership signup for the 2014 golf season on April 12 at Tamer Win Golf Course Clubhouse at 1 p.m. League play begins May12 at Tamer Win and May13 at Vienna Short Holes. The short-hole division welcomes beginner golfers and experienced golfers who want to improve their short game. The cost is $26 to join one division or $28 to join both divisions. Bring cash or a check made payable to: The Packard Electric Ladies Golf League. If you are unable to attend the membership signup, mail your name, address, phone number and payment by May 5. Be sure to identify and include any changes to your address or phone numbers and which division(s) you are joining) to: Carol Calhoun, 1000 Janet Drive NE, Warren, Ohio 44481. Dues must be paid prior to the start of league play to participate or for your scores to count toward the total number of games played for the season and to be eligible for weekly prizes and events. Golfers do not have to be Delphi Packard Electric or General Motors employees to join. New members must provide their established handicap or establish a handicap to be eligible for weekly events and prizes. Tee times for Tamer Win are: 3:34 to 4:16 p.m. or 5:05 to 5:33 p.m. Tee times for Vienna Short Holes are: 9 to 11:30 a.m. (seniors, new and slower players) or 3 to 5:30 p.m. For more information, call Sharon Gilmore at 330-637-1250.

RIVERVIEW THURSDAY SENIOR GOLF LEAGUE will hold a meeting at 9:30 a.m. on April 10 at the clubhouse. Seniors 55 and older are welcome.

MEETINGS

THE YOUNGSTOWN METRO UMPIRE ASSOCIATION will hold an OHSAA baseball/softball meeting and annual social March 31 beginning at 6:15 p.m. at the St. Nicholas Activity Center, 3801 Shady Run Road, Youngstown, Ohio. TEAMS NEEDED

THE WARREN SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION is now seeking anyone interested in entering a team for the summer for men’s, women’s or coed slow pitch softball leagues in Warren. SOFTBALL TOURNAMENTS

THE OHIO FURY SOFTBALL PROGRAM will hold Star Spangle Shootout ASA Eastern Qualifier Girls Softball Tournament on July 4 through July 6 at KC Geiger Park in St. Mary, Ohio. USSSA SOFTBALL will hold a tournament qualifier on April 5 at Silver Park in Alliance. The tournament is double-elimination format with a 10-team limit for Class E men. Entry fee is $175 plus sanction fee. The winner gets a paid state berth. To enter, call Floyd at 330-371-3624 or 330-823-2008.

THE FOURTH ANNUAL BATTING FOR LYDIA FASTPITCH SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT for 10U, 12U and 14U recreational and travel ball teams will be held on Mary 24. BOWLING TOURNAMENTS

THE 13th ANNUAL MICHAEL “MICKEY” MICHALOJKO SCRATCH BOWLING TOURNAMENT will be held April 13 at Colonia Lanes in New Castle. The format is two, four-game qualifying squads. Qualifiers then compete in a finals format, which begins immediately following the afternoon squad. There is space for 72 bowlers. For more information, contact 724-654-5000.
