GIRLS ROUNDUP: Late run sinks Lordstown

SMITHVILLE – The Smithies went on a late 6-0 run to pull away from the Red Devils, 37-31, on Monday night.

Lordstown (10-3) pulled within three with 40 seconds remaining, but Smithville kept the Red Devils at bay by shooting 6 of 8 from the foul line down the stretch.

Lordstown led 29-28 with 2 minutes left, but after the run Smithville went up 34-29.

Olivia Besancon had nine of her game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter to pace the Smithies.

Sarah Cash led the Red Devils, who play at Western Reserve on Wednesday, with 11 points.
