Win or go home

The fastest 10 weeks of the year have come and gone. Now it’s time for the next chapter of the high school football season – the five-week Ohio High School Athletic Association playoffs.

Beginning tonight, through the state championship games slated for the weekend of Dec. 7, teams from around the state will be vying for the coveted state title in the single-elimination state playoffs.

Kicking off the playoffs tonight around the area is the undefeated Hubbard Eagles hosting Marlington, Poland traveling to West Geauga, Lakeview and Struthers squaring off in a rematch of Week 2 and McDonald traveling to take on the powerful Kirtland Hornets. All of those games begin at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Austintown Fitch hosts Marysville, Ursuline travels to Akron Manchester, Liberty battles Crestview in another area rematch, Trinity travels to face off against top-seeded Western Reserve, Chalker heads west to face Norwalk St. Paul.
