Howland takes Sim Earich title

BAZETTA – Howland’s Ryan Sullivan and Connor Dotson took first and second, respectively, to lead Howland’s boys cross country team to the Division I-II boys title at Saturday’s Sim Earich Invitational at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds in times of 15 minutes, 56.51 seconds and 16:40.97.

Lakeview’s Chris Edie was third (17:01.04), while Howland’s Ben Cole was fourth (17:02.13) and Howland’s Ethan Neff was fifth (17:14.89).

Howland A beat Lakeview A, 19-60.

Grand Valley’s Jessica Finley won the Division I-II girls title in a time of 19:12.54.

Howland’s Taylor Craigo (20:22.26), Laurel’s Leah Neroni (21:04.31), Howland’s Haley Dieter (21:10.15) and Howland’s Morgan Buckley (21:18.21) round out the top five.

Howland beat Lakeview for the team title, 27-39.

Badger’s Owen Reeher won the boys Division III title in 16:43.73.

The rest of the top five were: Western Reserve Academy’s Colin Horgan (16:50.82), Badger’s Cody Reeher (17:29.93), Maplewood’s Charlie Woodrum (17:34.83), Maplewood’s Nick Cowger (17:38.21).

Maplewood beat Western Reserve Academy for the team title, 33-46. Badger was third with 67 points.

Then, Bristol’s Kimberly Michael won the Division III girls race in a time of 21:32.79.

Western Reserve’s Ashleigh Rowley (21:33.15), Bristol’s Becca Merlino (21:43.17), Western Reserve Academy’s Katherine Zandee (21:56.60) and Western Reserve Academy’s Elizabeth Downing (22:05.76) round out the top five.

Western Reserve Academy beat Bristol for the team title, 40-45.

BOARDMAN BOYS WIN FEDERAL LEAGUE TITLE: CANTON – Boardman’s Mark Hadley (15:06.0) and Alan Burns (15:54.1) paced the Spartans to a 37-57 win over Lake for the Federal League title Saturday.

Nathan Hadley took ninth (16:13.7).

Boardman’s Jordan Grantonic won the girls race (18:55.9), but GlenOak beat the Spartans for the girls title, 51-75.
