Scrappers win in 13 innings

NORWICH, Conn. – Juan Romero singled home Nellie Rodriguez in the top of the 13th inning for the game-winning run in the Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ 4-3 win in a 13-inning thriller over the Connecticut Tigers on Friday.

The Scrappers (19-25) needed two runs in the eighth inning to force the extras. Romero led off with a single and scored on Cody Ferrell fielder’s choice, while Bautista drove in Ferrell for the tying run with a double to right field.

Mahoning Valley and Connecticut continue their series tonight at 7:05 p.m.
