Mahoning Valley keeps winning
NORWICH, Conn. – The Mahoning Valley Scrappers won for the fifth time in sixth games with a 6-3 victory over the Connecticut Tigers on Saturday night.
James Roberts and Sicnarf Loopstok each collected two hits, and Juan Romero hit his fourth home run of the season – a two-run shot for Mahoning Valley’s first runs in the top of the second inning.
Loopstok, Josh McAdams, Claudio Bautista and Cody Ferrell each had a double in the game.
Starting pitcher Robert Whitenack improved to 3-4, going six innings and striking out five. He allowed just four hits and a two-run home run to Curt Powell. Ben Heller finished off the last three innings, striking out four and giving up two hits.
The Scrappers (20-25) play the Tigers again tonight before returning home for a six-game homestand.
