Bautista scores game winner in NY-PL All-Star Game
NORWICH, Conn. – Mahoning Valley Scrappers second baseman Claudio Bautista scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on Oscar Hernandez’s force out to lift the American League over the National League in Tuesday’s New York-Penn League All-Star Game at Dodd Stadium.
The AL team scored two in the bottom of the ninth to rally from a 3-2 deficit. Ryan Huck started the inning with a solo home run, while Bautista reached on a fielding error by Cesar Valera and eventually scored.
Scrappers Matt Whitehouse and Luis Lugo didn’t give up a run and combined for three strikeouts. Each didn’t walk a runner or give up a hit in their respective innings of work.
Bautista, Nellie Rodriguez and James Roberts all went 0 for 2.
Mahoning Valley travels to State College tonight, starting at 7:05 p.m.
