GREEN 72, AUSTINTOWN FITCH 36: ALLIANCE – Green set the tone in the first quarter to move past Fitch.

Green led 16-5 at the end of the first quarter, then outscored the Falcons 17-8 in the second to take a 33-13 halftime lead.

Dan Fanelly led Green with 28 points and Austin Marciniak scored 15. Mike Butcher and Quincy Higgins each scored eight for Fitch.

Green will face Canton Hoover in the Division I district semifinals on Tuesday.


CANFIELD 40, WEST BRANCH 37: AUSTINTOWN – The Cardinals used a stout defensive effort in the second quarter and held on to beat the Warriors in the Division II district final at Austintown Fitch High School.

Canfield (25-1) kept West Branch (23-3) to zero points in the second, taking a seven-point halftime lead. The Warriors outscored the Cardinals 26-22 in the second half but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Sabrina Mangapora led the Cardinals with a game-high 14 points, while Rachel Tinkey added 10 points. Amanda Linhart paced West Branch with 11 points.

Canfield moves on to face Holy Name on Tuesday at Barberton High School at 6:15 p.m.

LOWELLVILLE 44, LISBON 29: CANFIELD – The Rockets claimed their fifth straight district title with a comfortable win over the Blue Devils at South Range High School.

Lowellville (23-3) took a two-point lead into halftime but outscored Lisbon (15-11 28-15 in the second half to seal the win. The Rockets also held a large advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Blue Devils 32-17.

Kaye Solak paced the Rockets with 16 points, and Madsion Opritza added 11.

Lowellville will face Maplewood in the Division IV regional semifinals at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday at Massilon Perry High School.
