Harding can’t hold on vs. Cleveland Heights
CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Heights Tigers dropped 21 points in the fourth quarter to rally past the Warren G. Harding Raiders, 58-51, in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Harding (13-9) couldn’t match Cleveland Heights in the final quarter, scoring 10 points.
“We didn’t play as well in the fourth as in the other three,” Harding coach Andy Vlajkovich said. “We got out physicaled in the fourth.”
The Tigers used a 3-point barrage to keep them in the game early. Da. Davis drained three 3s in the first quarter as Cleveland Heights hit eight in the game.
Anthony Bell led the way for the Raiders by recording a double-double. He had a game-high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the losing effort.
The Raiders return to action Friday against the East-Boardman winner in the Division I sectional final.
CONNEAUT 51, BADGER 47: KINSMAN – The Spartans recorded a come-from-behind win in a regular-season finale.
Conneaut outscored the Braves 22-8 in the final 8 minutes, erasing a 10-point deficit. Christian Williams led the Spartans in the fourth, scoring 12 of his 18 points in the final period.
Brandon Bates and Matt Kraml paced Badger (9-13) with 18 and 17 points respectively. Badger plays John F. Kennedy in a Division IV sectional semifinal on Wednesday.
CANFIELD 84, LAKEVIEW 50: CANFIELD – Canfield was successful from beyond the arc in a rout against Lakeview.
Canfield made 11 3-pointers and outscored Lakeview 50-23 in the second and third quarters to build a substantial lead.
Canfield’s Andrew Midgley scored 27 points, hitting five 3-pointers on the night. Justin Journey led Lakeview with 13 points.
BROOKFIELD 66, GRAND VALLEY 37: BROOKFIELD -Brookfield led from the start of the game and was able to breezed past Grand Valley.
Brookfield (18-3) led 16-10 after the first quarter and padded its led by outscoring Grand Valley 22-9 in the second quarter.
Jeremy Quinlan notched a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Jake Vormelker led Grand Valley (4-18) with 15.
WINDHAM 70, GARFIELD 55: WINDHAM – With the win over Garfield, Windham picks up its 20th victory on the season.
Matt Knight dropped 21 points and Cameron Pozsgai chipped in with 15 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Maxey had a game-high 22 points for Garfield, Pratt added 14 for the G-Men.
AKRON EAST 60, AUSTINTOWN FITCH 50: AUSTINTOWN – Fitch kept things close in the early going, but Akron East pulled away in the second half.
Fitch trailed East 28-25 at halftime, then East used a 16-8 third quarter to take an 11 point lead going into the fourth quarter.
Jessie Driver scored 15 for Fitch and Alex Disrancesco chipped in with 10 points.
Brandon Townsend scored 18 for East and Denk Lewis netted 17.
SEBRING 70, SOUTHINGTON 61: SOUTHINGTON – In a scoring duel between Sebring’s Dylan Mick and Southington’s Jacob Zolna, Mick had the last laugh.
Zolna scored 34 points for the Wildcats, hitting six 3-pointers on the evening. Eric Wilson chipped in with 10 points.
Mick scored 27 points and Jerry Billingsley added 11 for the Trojans.
