Boardman, Fitch claim wins at district wrestling

MENTOR – Boardman advanced two wrestlers to the semifinals of the Division I district tournament at Mentor High School.

Seniors Nick Mancini (113) and Joe Cordova (182) each won their first two matches to reach the semifinals. Justin Humphreys (220) won his first match but lost his second. Peter Ryan (126), Mario Graziani (132) lost their first-round matchup, but are still in contention in the double tournament. Boardman is in 14th place as a team with 19.5 points.

Austintown Fitch juniors Zach Mackall (145) and Camran Rezapourian (170) won their first match and lost their second. Mike Hafely lost his first match, but he still has a chance to qualify for the state tournament (the top four placers move on). Fitch is in 29th place with six points. Perry leads the team standings with 90.5. Wrestling continues at 9 a.m. today.
