Harding loses another tough one in overtime

MAPLE HEIGHTS – Games coming down to the wire and not in their favor is becoming all too familiar with the Warren G. Harding Raiders.

On Tuesday, Harding led at the half, but Maple Heights chipped away at the lead, sending the game into overtime and eventually to a 63-61 victory for the Mustangs.

“We’ve squandered our share of leads,” WGH coach Andy Vlajkovich said. “We led the entire game, and had a 13-point lead in the third quarter. But the only person to blame is myself.”

A big reason the Mustangs were able to chip away was the play of Phil Black, who had a game-high 24 points for Maple Heights. Harding had the 35-21 lead at halftime, but were outscored 38-24 in the second half.

Mik’Quan Dorsey led the Raiders with 19 points. Harding is now 7-7 on the season and will look to get back on the winning track Friday at home versus Euclid.
