Ridge boys, girls top Chalker

MINERAL RIDGE 85, CHALKER 56: SOUTHINGTON — Jordan Zupko scored 16 of his game-high 26 points in the decisive third quarter as Mineral Ridge won the non-conference game. The Rams led 23-20 after one quarter, but the Wildcats (4-9) rallied for a 41-40 halftime lead. Ridge (9-3) outscored Chalker, 28-5, in the third, holding the Wildcats without a field goal. Austin Governor backed Zupko with 23 points, Triston Weiss scored 14 and Koby Zupko had 11. Chalker got 13 points from rystan Mollohan, 11 from Dylan Dye and 10 from Aidan Ricks.

Girls

MINERAL RIDGE 62, CHALKER 34: SOUTHINGTON — Alexa Harkins had a game-high 27 points to lead the Rams past the winless Wildcats. Mineral Ridge improves to 7-7, while Chalker is 0-10. Shae Keeley paced the Wildcats with 15 points.

NEWTON FALLS 47, BROOKFIELD 39: BROOKFIELD — Newton Falls increased a 15-11 halftime lead to 28-16 after three quarters, then withstood a Brookfield rally in the fourth quarter for the All-American Conference Blue Tier win. The Tigers (10-3, 5-1) sank 11 of 15 free throw attempts in the final quarter. Libby Barreca scored 14 points, Bree Hutson had 13, Alyssa Dangerfield 10 and Allison Sembach eight for Newton Falls. Dangerfield scored seven of her points in the decisive third quarter and Barreca had six. Brookfield (9-5, 3-3) was led by Bailey Drapola who scored 18 points, including 12 of the Warriors’ 23 points in the fourth quarter. Becca Litz scored four of her 11 points in the final 8 minutes.

LIBERTY 92, CAMPBELL 19: LIBERTY — Sharda Williamson scored 36 points and Liberty jumped out to a 27-4 first-quarter lead in the All-American Conference Blue Tier rout. Nysa Gilchrist added 17 points and Delia Watson scored 12 for the Leopards (9-3, 3-2).

URSULINE 68, CANTON CENTRAL CATHOLIC 40: YOUNGSTOWN — Dayshanette Harris recorded a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the Irish (8-4). She was backed by Cara McNally with 12 points, Anisah Moorman with 11 and Anyah Curd with 10. Ursuline led 26-6 after one quarter, 42-16 at halftime and 64-2 after three quarters.

AUSTINTOWN FITCH 65, CANFIELD 64: CANFIELD — The Falcons held off the Cardinals to win this AAC Red Tier battle. Austintown Fitch (8-3, 2-0) had a 50-45 lead heading into the fourth quarter as Canfield (9-3, 1-1) outscored the Falcons 19-15 in the final 8 minutes. Gianna Flask had six six 3-pointers as part of her 20 points. Serena Sammarone led the Cardinals with 24 points. Sabria Hunter led all scorers and Fitch with 27 points.

SHARPSVILLE 39, HUBBARD 29: SHARPSVILLE, Pa. — Hubbard (3-10) fell behind 21-8 after the first quarter and couldn’t catch up, losing its fourth straight game. The Eagles trailed 29-16 at halftime and 35-22 after three quarters. Maddy McCann led Hubbard with 10 points.

JEFFERSON 46, GRAND VALLEY 42: JEFFERSON — The Falcons pulled away from the Mustangs in the fourth quarter to win. Genesis Foltz paced Grand Valley (5-6) with 13 points.
