OHSAA announces sites for regional semifinals

Sites for the OHSAA Regional Semifinals were announced Sunday, with six area teams finding out where they’ll try to continue their postseason runs.

The upstart Eagles of John F. Kennedy (6-5), seeded third in Division VII, Region 25, travel to Canton Central Catholic’s Lowell Klinefelter Stadium for a matchup with third-seeded Ashland Mapleton (8-3). That game is set for 7 p.m. Saturday.

In Division IV, Region 13, fifth-seeded Girard (10-1) travels to Ashtabula Lakeside High School for a rematch with top-seeded Perry (10-1) at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Indians lost to Perry, 50-21, in the 2017 regional semifinal. Also in Region 13, No. 3 Hubbard (10-1) ventures to Boardman to square off with No. 2 Steubenville (10-1) at 7 p.m. Saturday. The winner of those two games plays for the regional championship.

In Division V, Region 17, LaBrae, seeded third at 10-1, is headed to Louisville Leopard Stadium to square off with second-seeded Akron Manchester (8-3). They also play at 7 p.m. Saturday.

One of only two Friday games, No. 5 McDonald (11-0) travels to Aurora’s Veteran Stadium in a Division VI, Region 21 showdown with top-seeded Mogadore (10-1). That game is at 7 p.m.

In Division III, Region 9, No. 1-seeded Canfield (10-1) faces No. 5 Akron East at Ravenna’s Gilcrest Field at 7 p.m. Friday.
