Falls, Vikings, Bristol advance

¯ NEWTON FALLS 55, CRESTWOOD 42: NEWTON FALLS — Newton Falls outscored Crestwood, 34-26, in the second half to pull away with the win in a Division III Sectional bracket final.

Newton Falls (14-9) was led by Preston Rapzcak with 17 points while three guys, Gage Friend, Adam Honeycutt and Chris Rankin, all fell one rebound short of double-doubles. Joey Kline finished with five assists.

Crestwood was led by both Mason Jakacki and Kyle Zigman with 13 points each.

Newton Falls will now face the winner of the Liberty/Champion game in a Division III Warren district semifinal game on March 6.

¯ LaBRAE 85, PYMATUNING VALLEY 49: LEAVITTSBURG — LaBrae outscored Pymatuning Valley, 66-30, in the final three quarters to win a Division III sectional bracket final game.

LaBrae (22-1) was led by Tyler Stephens with 21 points, Aaron Iler with 19 points, Benton Tennant with 14 and Elijah Whiteside with 13.

Pymatuning Valley (12-11) was led by Jacob Freeman with 22 points.

LaBrae hit 10 3-pointers to PV’s five.

LaBrae now goes to play Garfield in a Division III Warren district semifinal game.

¯ WINDHAM 74, BADGER 60: WINDHAM — Windham outscored Badger, 27-15, in the third quarter en route to a win in a Division IV sectional bracket final.

Windham (19-4) was led by Blaze Angle with 19 points and while both Phillip Maiorca and Mason Angle with 15 points each. Eric Park finished with 12 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and four steals.

Badger (14-10) was led by Logan Popovich with 18 points, Aiden Miller with 14 and Logan Lendak with 12. Popovich finished with six rebounds and three steals.

Windham now faces Bristol in a Division IV Orwell District semifinal game on March 6.

¯ BRISTOL 78, MATHEWS 44: BRISTOLVILLE — Bristol outscored Mathews, 58-26, in the last three quarters to outlast it in a Division IV Sectional bracket final game.

Bristol (21-2) was led by Gage Elza with 21 points and six rebounds, Bobby Evan with 20 points and six steals, and Bryan Gabrielson with 14 points. Damian Durst had five assists in the game.

Mathews (13-11) was led by Tyler Koeppen and Ryan Gates with 12 points each and Sean McDivitt with 11 points.

Bristol will now face Windham in the Division IV Orwell District semifinals on March 6.

¯ VALLEY CHRISTIAN 52, LISBON 45: YOUNGSTOWN — Valley Christian got the win by outscoring Lisbon by five in the fourth quarter in a Division IV sectional bracket final.

Valley Christian (15-7) was led by Milan Square with 18 points including four 3-pointers. Melvin Neail had 13 points and Jamyk Jackson had nine points.

Lisbon (13-11) was led by Justin Sweeney with 24 points and 12 rebounds while Branson Brownfield finished with 11 points and Brice Blackburn had 10.

Valley Christian will face East Canton in a Division IV Struthers District semifinal on March 6.

¯ WESTERN RESERVE 60, SPRINGFIELD 46: BERLIN CENTER — Western Reserve outscored Springfield, 25-9, in the second quarter to win a Division IV sectional bracket final.

Western Reserve (17-6) was led by Cole DeZee with 23 points and Kade Hilles with 14 points.

Springfield was led by Drew Clark with 14 points and Shane Eynon with nine points.

Western Reserve will now play McDonald in a Division IV Struthers district semifinal game.
