Tigers, ’Dogs, secure key tier victories

¯ HOWLAND 43, BOARDMAN 32: BOARDMAN — Howland got a much-needed win over Boardman to keep pace with Warren G. Harding for the All-American Conference Red Tier title.

Howland (12-4, 7-2) was led by Connor Tamarkin with 15 points and Frank Rappach with 11 points with two 3-pointers.

Boardman (5-10, 2-6) was led by Holden Lipke with 10 points and Derrick Anderson with eight points.

¯ HUBBARD 59, CHAMPION 49: HUBBARD — Hubbard’s big offensive third quarter propelled it to get a win to break Champion’s five-game win streak.

Hubbard (8-8) was led by Davion Daniels with 26 points including one 3-pointer. Bashar Rasoul finished with 12 points.

Champion (10-7) was led by Drake Batcho with 15 points and Joe Abramovich with 13 points.

Hubbard outscored Champion, 27-13, in the third quarter.

¯ LAKEVIEW 71, JEFFERSON 57: JEFFERSON — Lakeview led at halftime, 40-33, and then outscored Jefferson, 18-9, in the third quarter to pull away with the win in All-American Conference White Tier action.

Lakeview (12-5, 7-4) was led by Daniel Evans with 19 points, Jeff Remmick with 16 points and Drew Munno with 15 points.

Jefferson was led by Jason Vance with 17 points, Brandon Strang with 10 and Jake Butler with 10 points.

Both teams hit 10 3-pointers.

¯ CAMPBELL 70, LIBERTY 69: CAMPBELL — Campbell used a strong offensive second quarter to get the win over Liberty in All-American Conference Blue Tier play.

Campbell was led by Nick Kouros with 24 points. Eric Van Cobb came up a point short of a double-double with nine points and 18 rebounds. Brandon Liggins led the Red Devils with six assists and three steals.

Liberty (3-11, 2-8) was led by Dra Rushton with 27 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Ezell Brown put up 16 points and five steals.

Campbell had more rebounds and more assists in the win.

¯ GIRARD 89, BROOKFIELD 68: BROOKFIELD — Both teams combined for 75 free-throw attempts as Girard pulled away from winless Brookfield.

Girard (9-9, 5-5 All-American Conference, Blue Tier) was 39 of 45 from the line, while Brookfield (0-15, 0-11) were 20 fo 30.

David Blackmon had a game-high 31 points for the Indians leading four double-figure scorers. Austin Clausell had 15 points, while Matt Payich added 13 and Mark Waid put in 11.

Nate Smoot lead the Warriors with 19 points, while Conner Stevens added 18. Brady Reichart contributed 15.

¯ EDGEWOOD 78, NILES 43: ASHTABULA — Ricky Baldwin had 13 points to lead the Warriors past the Red Dragons in this AAC White Tier game.

Hayden Kanicki put in 11 for Edgewood (14-2, 7-2 AAC White), while Jake Zapitelli added 10.

The Warriors led 38-19 at halftime and 58-27 after three quarters.

Cyler Kane-Johnson led Niles (2-15, 1-10) and all scorers with 23 points, while Vince Chieffo put in 11.
