NF, Brookfield win; Chalker tops Badger

¯ NEWTON FALLS 50, CONNEAUT 27: NEWTON FALLS — In a Division III Ravenna District sectional bracket final, Newton Falls led Conneaut, 18-3, after one quarter in the win.

Newton Falls (16-7) was led by Izzy Kline with 22 points and Alli Sembach with 14 points on four 3-pointers.

Conneaut was led by Hannah Clark with 10 points and KJ Hass with seven points.

Newton Falls will now face Garfield in a district semifinal game.

¯ BROOKFIELD 66, CRESTVIEW 40: BROOKFIELD — In a Division III Struthers District sectional bracket final, Brookfield got the win over Crestview. Brookfield outscored Cresteview, 32-15, in the second half.

Brookfield (18-5) was led by Bailey Drapola with 24 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals. Both Chloe Willrich and Tori Sheehan had 14 points each.

Crestview was led by Krista Perry with 11 points on three 3-pointers made.

Brookfield now goes on to face South Range in a semifinal game at Struthers High School on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

¯ CHALKER 65, BADGER 55: VERNON — In a Division IV Orwell District sectional bracket final, Chalker outscored Badger, 41-27, in the second half to get the win.

Chalker’s advanced to the district semifinals for the first time in 17 years.

Chalker (14-9) was led by Courtney Warnick with 20 points, including three made 3-pointers. She is now nine points from breaking the school record of 1,459 points held by Holly Housholder.

Badger (13-11) was led by Chloe Flowers and Brooke Morgan with 16 points each.

Chalker will now face Cornerstone Christian on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.

¯ COLUMBIANA 66, MINERAL RIDGE 12: COLUMBIANA — Columbiana led Mineral Ridge at halftime, 40-8, en route to a win in a Division III Struthers District sectional bracket final.

Columbiana (22-1) was led by Kayla Muslovski with 34 points with three made 3-pointers. Alexis Cross finished with 14 points as well.

Mineral Ridge (12-12) was led by Fran Kesner with six points while three other girls scored two points each.

¯ CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS 36, JOHN F. KENNEDY: CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS — A strong second half allowed Cuyahoga Heights to push past John F. Kennedy in a Division IV sectional bracket final.

The Eagles led, 16-13, at halftime, but they were outscored 23-11 in the second half. Danielle Bradley of John F. Kennedy (11-12) was the only player in double figures for either team with 11 points. She also grabbed four rebounds.

The Redskins had five players score at least five points.

¯ WESTERN RESERVE 64, LORDSTOWN 50: BERLIN CENTER — In a Division IV Mineral Ridge District sectiona bracket final, Western Reserve got the win over Lordstown.

Western Reserve (17-6) was led by Alexis Hughes with 18 points, 11 rebounds, five assist and three steals. Laura Sigworth chipped in with 14 points and six rebounds. Kennedy Miller had four assists.

Lordstown (16-7) was led by Kaylynn Higginbotham with 12 points, Jordan Beach with 11 points and Kellee Applegate with nine points.

Western Reserve will now face Lisbon on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.

¯ JACKSON-MILTON 54, SOUTHERN LOCAL 23: NORTH JACKSON — In a Division IV Mineral Ridge District sectional bracket final, Jackson-Milton led from horn to horn to get the win.

This senior class is the first to win four consecutive sectional championships.

Jackson-Milton (21-2) was led by Michaelina Terranova with 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals. Ashley Cameron grabbed seven rebounds. Emily Williams put up 13 points for the Blue Jays.

Southern Local was led Anna Sevek with 11 points and both of the Indians 3-pointers.

Jackson-Milton will now play Valley Christian on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Boys

¯ JOHN F. KENNEDY 79, ANDREW’S OSBORNE ACADEMY 76: WARREN — John F. Kennedy finished out the regular season with a win over Andrew’s Osborne Academy.

Kennedy (12-10) was led by Byron Taylor with 33 points with four made 3-pointers. Tyler James finished with a double-double of 10 points and 16 rebounds.

Kennedy will face Lordstown in a Division IV sectional first round game.

¯ PYMATUNING VALLEY 89, WINDHAM 87: ANDOVER — Pymatuning Valley pulled the upset in its portion of the Northeastern Athletic Conference Stars & Stripes Challenge.

Pymatuning Valley (11-10) was led by Trent Panak with 27 points including 21 first-quarter points. Jacob Freeman also led the Lakers with 18 points and 20 rebounds. Jonah Wilkerson finished with seven assist and nine points.

Windham (18-4) was led by Mason Angle with 27 points and seven rebounds. Blaze Angle also grabbed seven rebounds while both Phillips Maiorca and Eric park had seven assist each.

The teams combined to hit 25 3-pointers in the game.

PV plays Mineral Ridge on Tuesday in playoff action.
