Boardman boys 9th in state swim meet
CANTON — The Boardman Spartans boys swimming team finished ninth at the Division I state swimming meet with 88 points.
A familiar face atop the swimming platform, Cincinnati St. Xavier, smashed the competition with 413 for yet another state championship. Brecksville was a distance second with 150 points.
The Spartans, the dominant swim team in the area, finished in the top eight in four of their five events. In all the final events, Boardman dropped times from the preliminaries.
Senior Callen Aulizia led the way with third place in the 100-yard freestyle (45.81) and fifth in the 50 freestyle (20.55).
The 400 freestyle relay of senior Kyle Kimerer, Aulizia and sophomores Matthew DunLany and Noah Basista were fifth (3:06.61).
The four were seventh in the 200-medley relay (1:34.59).
Kimerer was 11th in the 100 butterfly consolation final (20.55).
