Weather, again, postpones area high school games

Due to predicted inclement weather, the Newton Falls Honor Our Past recognition event — and the boys basketball games against Brookfield — have been moved from tonight to Saturday.

The 1958 Trumbull AA League championship team will be recognized on its 60th anniversary, and the 2003 Trumbull Athletic Conference and Division III district championship team will be honored on its 15th anniversary.

Saturday’s schedule now includes the Brookfield at Newton Falls boys varsity game at 2:30 p.m., recognition of the two championship teams, and the Champion at Newton Falls girls varsity game at 4:30 p.m. That game originally was scheduled to start at 1:30.

OTHER ADJUSTMENTS: The Sebring at Mineral Ridge boys games, scheduled for tonight, have been moved to Saturday evening. The JV teams will play at 5 p.m. in the junior high gym and the varsity teams will play at 6:30 in the high school gym. The girls varsity game, originally scheduled at 1 p.m., will be played at 5 p.m. in the high school gym.

The time for the Niles at Liberty game tonight will be moved up. The JV game will begin at 5, with the varsity scheduled to start at 6:15.

The Canfield at Lakeside game has been postponed to Feb. 20.

The McDonald at Lowellville boys game, scheduled for tonight, was postponed. A make-up date has not yet been set.
