McDonald rolls WR; Ridge tops Blue Jays
¯ McDONALD 86, WESTERN RESERVE 56: McDONALD — Western Reserve took a 14-12 lead after the first quarter. McDonald outscored it, 74-42, the rest of the game.
McDonald (9-1, 5-0 Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference) was led by Braeden Poole with 33 points on 16 mad field goals. Josh Celli had 16 and Zack Rasile had 14.
Western Reserve was led by Kade Hilles with 19 points, seven rebounds and three steals and Jack Cappabianca with 15 points and eight rebounds. Riley Miller had five assists.
¯ MINERAL RIDGE 43, JACKSON-MILTON 40: MINERAL RIDGE — Mineral Ridge used a good fourth quarter to defeat Jackson-Milton in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference play.
Mineral Ridge (3-8, 2-4) scored just two points in the third quarter and were down 32-25 but outscored Jackson-Milton (1-9, 0-5) 18-8 in the fourth.
Ridge was led by Jordan Zupko with 19 points and Koby Zupko with eight points.
Jackson-Milton was led by Paul Bortz with 20 points.
JM hit four threes to Ridge’s three.
¯ AUSTINTOWN FITCH 92, LAKESIDE 48: AUSTINTOWN — The Falcons were dominant from start to finish in an AAC, Red Tier matchup with Lakeside.
Fitch led 43-22 at halftime, with Cole Constance scoring 13 of his 18 in the half. Chris Brown added another 18 for the Falcons, who scored 49 points in the final two quarters. A.J. Green added 11 points for Fitch (5-5, 2-3).
¯ CANFIELD 63, EAST 48: CANFIELD — Canfield hit 12 3-pointers to storm back from a seven-point halftime deficit and win a vital All-American Conference, Red Tier matchup.
The Cardinals (7-3, 4-0) trailed 30-23 at the half, but they outscored East, 40-18, in the final two quarters. Canfield made eight 3-pointers in the second half, with Zach Tinkey sinking all three of his long-range shots and scoring all of his 13 points. Ian McGraw, who also had three 3s, poured in a game-high 17 points, and Aydin Hanousek and Ethan Kalin each scored 12.
East (4-4, 2-2) led at the break thanks in large part to the 3-ball. The Golden Bears hit five from downtown, led by Dejon Rogers three 3-pointers and team-high 11 points. They only had two 3s in the second half.
¯ WESTERN RESERVE ACADEMY 42, JOHN F. KENNEDY 38: WARREN — A bad shooting night for John F. Kennedy gave it a close loss to Western Reserve Academy.
John F. Kennedy (5-5) got behind in the first half and couldn’t get all the way back. The Eagles trailed 26-14 at half.
JFK was led by Caitlyn Condoleon with 20 points and four assists while Naomi Herman finished with 21 rebounds. Genie Orlovsky finished one rebound short of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds along with three assists.
