Ursuline earns 1st victory

¯ URSULINE 80, PROPEL CHARTER (BRADDOCK HILLS) (PA) 43: SHARON — Ursuline used the 3-ball to get its first win of the year in the consolation game of the Sharon Holiday Tournament.

Ursuline (1-7) got it going early and never looked back. The Irish led 58-22 at halftime. The Irish were led by Devan Keevey with 24 points.

Propel Charter (1-6) fell behind quickly and couldn’t recover. The Panthers were led by Isiah Tools with 20 points lncluding two 3-pointers.

Ursuline hit 10 3-pointers as Vince Armini had three to lead the team to victory.

¯ WINDHAM 70, NEWTON FALLS 57: WINDHAM — Behind 31 points and nine rebounds from Mason Angle, Windham got a good non-conference win against Newton Falls.

Windham (6-2) outrebounded Newton Falls (4-3) 38-26 to get the win. Phillip Maiorca also helped with 12 points while Blaze Angle had 10 rebounds. Eric Park had 10 points with nine assists.

Newton Falls was led by Gage Friend with 20 points, Adam Honeycutt with 12 points and preston Rapzcak with 16 points.

Windham hit seven 3-pointers to newton Falls’ five.

¯ BRISTOL 74, CHAMPION 55: CHAMPION — A great 3-point shooting gave Bristol the win over Champion in a good non-conference win.

Bristol (6-2) had four guys in double figures with Tommy Donadio. Donadio had 26 points with five 3-pointers. Bryan Gabrielson had a double-double with 18 points with 10 assists. Gage Elza also contributed with 12 points and eight assists.

Champion (3-4) stayed close until the fourth quarter where it was outscored 22-10. The Flashes were led by Drake Batcho with 22 points and Jaredy Day with 11 points.

Bristol hit nine 3-pointers to Champion’s one which was the difference.

¯ AUSTINTOWN FITCH 72, BOARDMAN 58: AUSTINTOWN — A big second quarter by Austintown Fitch allowed it to defeat Boardman in an All-American Conference Red Tier game.

Fitch (4-4, 1-3) used a great game from Randy Smith, 25 points, to get ahead and get the win. Emanuel Dawkins also had 10 points.

Boardman (3-5, 1-2) got outscored 28-12 in the second quarter and that put it too far behind to recover. Ryan Archey led the Spartans with 22 points while Holden Lipke had 11 points.

Free throws were a big part of the game as Boardman hit 20 while Fitch hit 26.

¯ CAMPBELL 58, MINERAL RIDGE 49: MINERAL RIDGE — A consistent game and constant lead gave Campbell the win over Newton Falls in a non-conference match-up.

Campbell (4-4) was led by Nikolas Kouros with 17 points. Raysean Hicks also had 11 points.

Mineral Ridge (3-6) couldn’t get over the scoring hump in the loss. The Rams were led by Jordan Zupko with 18 points including three 3-pointers.

RIdge hit more 3-pointers than Campbell, 6-3, but the Red Devils hit eight more free throws, 15-7.

¯ COLUMBIANA 50, JACKSON-MILTON 32: NORTH JACKSON — In the consolation game of the Jackson-Milton Holiday Tournament, Columbiana defeated the host behind a strong rebounding prefromance.

Columbiana (3-5) got a strong performance from Jared Wilson who had 16 points with three assists and three rebounds. Hunter Zenter had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Jackson-Milton (2-5) couldn’t find the bottom of the bucket shooting just 22 percent from the field. Taylor Kleinknecht led the Blue jays with eight points. Paul Bortz had five points and five rebounds.

¯ MOGADORE 95, MAPLEWOOD 57: NORTH JACKSON — Mogadore came out hot and defeated Maplewood in the Championship game of the Jackson-Milton Holiday Tournament.

Mogadore used the 3-point line to its advantage as it hit 12. Maplewood only hit two threes the entire night.

Mogadore was led by Lucas Swartz with 22 points with four 3-pointers while Eli Robertson had 16 points with four 3-pointers as well.

Maplewood was led by Hunter Bates with 19 points while Shane Swogger had 13 points.
