Howland, Lakeview, LaBrae girls all win
¯ HOWLAND 53, KENSTON 48: HOWLAND — Mackenzie Maze and Gabby Hartzell each had seven points in the fourth quarter as the Tigers went on a 10-0 to start the final stanza and rally to beat the Bombers.
Howland (3-1) outscored Kenston in the fourth quarter, 18-5.
Maze had 12 points, while Hartzell added 15.
Alex Ochman had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Tigers.
Kate Taylor had 11, while Coenna Maynard added 10 for Kenston (1-1). The Bombers were 18 of 70 from the floor.
Wednesday, Howland hosts Canfield.
¯ LAKEVIEW 51, JEFFERSON 44: CORTLAND — Annie Pavlansky and Lindsay Carnahan combined for 45 points to lead the Bulldogs past Jefferson.
Pavlansky had 28 points and 14 rebounds for Lakeview (2-2), while Carnahan added 17 points and eight rebounds.
The Bulldogs rallied from and eight-point halftime deficit and held the Falcons to 14 in the second half.
Hannah Root led Jefferson (0-2) with 19 points.
¯ LaBRAE 47, EDGEWOOD 22: LEAVITTSBURG — Olivia Williams and Marissa Roberts combined for 21 points as LaBrae handled Edgewood for its first victory of the season.
Olivia Williams had 11 points, while Marissa Roberts added 10 for the Vikings (1-2).
Sid Melaragno paced the Warriors with nine points.
¯ CARDINAL MOONEY 61, SOUTHEAST 51: PALMYRA — Kelly Williams had 18 points, while CJ Sapp added 15 in Cardinal Mooney’s first victory of the season.
The Cardinals (1-1) suffered an opening loss at Boardman.
Andrea Radcliff had 16 points, while Hannah Schill added 12 for Southeast (0-3).
¯ BOARDMAN 38, NILES 36: NILES — The Red Dragons tried to rally from a 13-point halftime deficit, but fell short against the Spartans.
Niles (1-2) trailed 25-12 at halftime, but outscored Boardman 24-13 in the second half — including 16-8 in the third quarter.
Emma Dellinger and Madison Johnson each had nine points for Niles, while Raegan Burkey led Boardman with 12 points.
The Spartans were 13 of 24 from the foul line, while Niles was 3 of 8.
¯ GARFIELD 62, RAVENNA 59: GARRETTSVILLE — Makenna Lawrence had 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead he G-Men past the Ravens.
Grace Mills had 19 points, while Kiley Carey added 12 and Emma Trent had 10 for Garfield (3-0).
Lauren Calhoun led Ravenna (1-2) with 24 points, while A.C. Chambers added 10.
¯ SOUTH RANGE 52, NEWTON FALLS 49: BEAVER TWP. — Maddie Durkin led three players in double figures as the Raiders stayed undefeated and held off visiting Newton Falls.
Durkin had 15 points, while Samantha Patrone added 11 and Bree Kohler put in 10 for South Range (4-0).
Allison Sembach, who had five 3-pointers and a game-high 18 points, led Newton Falls (1-1). Izzy Kline added 16.
¯ BERKSHIRE 51, GRAND VALLEY 37: BURTON — Dani Shreve had 13 points, but it wasn’t enough as Grand Valley fell to the Badgers.
The Mustangs, who shot 12 fo 51 from the floor, had 26 rebounds, six steals and five assists.
¯ STRUTHERS 50, FITCH 47: STRUTHERS — Sabria Hunter had 19 points, while Gina DiFrancesco added 14 as the Falcons fell short against Struthers.
The Falcons (1-1) outscored the Wildcats 19-17 in the second half after getting outscored 33-28 in the first half.
