Hubbard’s Jarvis to YSU

Hubbard ace softball pitcher Addy Jarvis was one of Youngstown State’s five signings in that sport. The Penguins also inked Cardinal Mooney standout Kayla Rutherford, plus Sarah Bader of Baltimore Liberty Union, Grace Cea of North Canton Hoover and Alex DeLeon of Warrington, Pa.

“We are excited to add these five student-athletes to our program,” coach Brian Campbell said. “Each player fills a need we will have due to graduation and builds our depth.”

Jarvis was a first-team all-state pitcher last season with a 20-1 record, more than 200 strikeouts and a .513 batting average. She was also named conference player of the year. In her three seasons, she has picked up 47 wins and was a two-time league player of the year.

Rutherford, a pitcher and infielder, collected 210 strikeouts in three years with a career earned-run average of 1.85. She also owns a .508 career batting average with 10 home runs and 73 RBIs.

The YSU men’s golf program added two Boardman standouts, Brian Terlesky and Bryan Kordupel.

Terlesky’s cousin and fellow Boardman product, Jenna Vivo, will also be golfing at Youngstown State. Vivo has signed a national letter of intent to play for the YSU women’s golf program.
