Maplewood’s Sparks, McDonald girls win at The Legends race

BAZETTA — Maplewood senior Ethan Sparks won Saturday’s boys small school race in 16:23.0.

McDonald girls kept up its winning ways with a 93 to 137 victory over St. Vincent-St. Mary. The Blue Devils duo of Malina Mitchell (third, 19:01.8) and Anna Guerra (ninth, 19:33.9) led the way.

Badger’s Miranda Stanhope, the two-time Trumbull County champion, was seventh (19:26.0).

Howland’s Maria Dellimuti was 18th (19:51.1), while McDonald’s Sela Jones was 20th (19:56.0) and Bella Wolford was 25th (20:11.8).

McDonald boys took second (154), while Maplewood was third (179). St. Vincent-St. Mary took first (88).

LaBrae’s Jakob Rose was sixth (16:47.4), while the trio of McDonald’s Ethan Domitrovich (16:50.2), Maplewood’s Adam Burgard (16:52.6) and McDonald’s Brody Rupe (16:55.3) took eighth through 10th.

Badger’s Lincon Hopkins was 16th (17:02.3), while McDonald’s Zack Canada took 18th (17:08.3).

Girard’s Louis Larney placed 25th (17:19.8).

Garfield’s Tyler Klouda was sixth in the boys large school division (16:13.0), while Austintown Fitch’s Christian Davis was 22nd (16:55.8) and Canfield’s Giovanni Copploe took 24th (17:01.9).

Niles’ Hailey Zelinsky was 13th in the girls large school division (19:54.9).

MAURI TAKES FIRST IN MEDINA: Howland’s Vincent Mauri, the two-time boys Trumbull County Champion, was first in the Division I race at the Medina XC Festival in a time of 15:42.18.
