Howland defense pitches shutout; Lakeview, Liberty roll

¯ HOWLAND 30, PERRY 0: HOWLAND — Howland held Perry Traditional Academy to eight rushing yards in a dominant non-conference victory.

The Tigers (4-3) rushed for 288 yards on 46 carries, while stifling the Commodores (1-5) to eight yards on 13 carries. Perry accumulated just 117 total yards.

Howland’s Jackson Deemer ran for 86 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Samari Dean was 3-for-3 passing for 78 yards and one TD, and he also ran for 55 yards. The Tigers led, 17-0, at halftime and put the game away with a 13-point fourth quarter.

¯ LAKEVIEW 43, EDGEWOOD 7: ASHTABULA — Lakeview dominted the first half of an All-American Conference White Tier matchup and cruised past Edgewood.

Quarterback Zach Rogers completed 8-of-9 passes for 109 yards and one touchdown as the Bulldogs took a 43-0 halftime lead. Lakeview added four rushing TDs in the first 24 minutes. Jacob Chapman led the Bulldogs with 66 yards and two TDs on six carries.

The Bulldogs (6-1, 4-0) held Edgewood (1-6, 0-4) to 188 total yards and just 32 passing.

¯ LIBERTY 69, CHAMPION 7: LIBERTY — The Leopards (5-2, 4-0 AAC Blue Tier) opened a halftime lead of 62-0. Dra Rushton yet again led the Leopards’ charge as he ran for 119 yards with three touchdowns and threw for 69 yards and two touchdowns.

Wide reciever Quaishon Campbell found the end zone three times with two rushing and one receiving.

For Champion (0-7 0-4), Jordan Melton ran for 23 yards and Nick Stahlman threw for a touchdown and 92 yards. He hit Nathan Russell for a 49-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Flashes’ their only score. Champion only earned four first downs while throwing three interceptions.

Liberty gained nearly 420 yards on the day with a punt returned for a touchdown by Tobias Brantley.
