WGH girls bowling advance to state
The Warren G. Harding girls bowling team is heading to the state tournament after finishing third at Sunday’s Division I district tournament at Hall of Fame Lanes.
The Raiders rolled 3,390 pins. Stow-Munroe Falls won with 3,589 pins, while Massillon Perry took second (3,403). Akron Springfield is fourth (3,317) and Olmsted Falls took fifth (3,296) to round out the top five state qualifiers.
Howland was eighth (3,213), led by Jessica Guesman, who took 13th (522) and Jordyn Pregibon, who took 29th (490).
Brianna Nolen led the Raiders with a seventh-place finish (553), while Katelyn Daughtery took ninth (541). Emily Oswald took 16th (514).
Boardman’s boys team tied for fourth with Akron Springfield with 3,693 pins. Nordonia (3,857), Mentor (3,840) and Alliance (3,694) took the top three spots. Cuyahoga Falls (3,683) was sixth. The top six teams advanced to state.
Chase Felger led the Spartans with a 23rd-place finish (549) — tied with Austintown Fitch’s Alec Smith, who placed 22nd.
The state tournament is March 10 for the girls and March 11 for the boys at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.
