¯ KENNEDY 46, LEETONIA 45: LEETONIA — Kennedy nearly blew a double-digit fourth quarter lead, but managed to hang on. The Eagles had 34 first-half points and had nine 3-pointers for the game. Antonella LaMonica had 19 points and Caitlyn Condoleon had 17 of her own. Kennedy (13-10) will travel to No. 4 Western Reserve on Saturday at 1 p.m. Leetonia outscored Kennedy, 16-1, in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough. Tori Norman had 14 points.

¯ VALLEY CHRISTIAN 73, HEARTLAND CHRISTIAN 21: YOUNGSTOWN — Valley Christian led, 24-2, after the first period. Daisjha Parks led with 23 points, with Asia Jones had 12 of the team’s 39 boards. The Eagles will travel to No. 3 McDonald on Saturday, 1 p.m.

Heartland had just two first quarter points. Ogden and Morgan had seven points each.

¯ BADGER 62, FAIRPORT HARDING 28: KINSMAN — Badger led by 21 points at half. Haylee Mott and Kiersten Tricker had 15 points apiece. The Braves will travel to No. 3 Windham on Saturday, 1 p.m.

Fairport had 10 first-half points. Lorek had 12 points.

¯ LORDSTOWN 52, SEBRING 26: LORDSTOWN — Lordstown’s Kaylynn Higinbotham scored nine of her team-high 14 points in the first half as the Red Devils cruised to a sectional first-round victory.

The sixth-seeded Red Devils (15-8) advance to play No. 7 Mathews at 5 p.m. Saturday in Lordstown.

Higinbotham was one of 10 people who scored for Lordstown, which outscored Sebring, 19-5, in the second quarter.

Sebring led Amanda Hurford paced the Trojans with eight points.

DIVISION III

¯ GARFIELD 63, CARDINAL 36: GARRETTSVILLE — The G-Men led 25-4, after the first quarter. Grayson Rose made 6 of 6 free throws for 27 points, as Garfield made 14 of 16 from the charity stripe, overall. No. 1 Garfield will host No. 7 LaBrae, 1 p.m. Saturday.

Cardinal was held to six first-half points. Leichtman had eight points in the game.

¯ MOONEY 62, MINERAL RIDGE 35: YOUNGSTOWN — Mooney scored 33 second-half points and shot 25 of 47 from the field. Camden Hergenrother led the way with 14 points. The Cardinals will host No. 5 Canton Central Catholic 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Mineral Ridge was held to 16 second-half points. Alexa Harkins had 12 points.

¯ CHAMPION 48, CONNEAUT 17: CHAMPION — Champion’s defense dominated Conneaut in a Division III first-round sectional victory.

The Golden Flashes’ Abby White led all scorers with 18 points. Champion (15-8) led 22-6 at the half and didn’t allow the Spartans to score more than six points in any quarter. Allison Smith added 12.

Champion, a No. 3 seed, hosts Grand Valley at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Conneaut ended its season at 8-15.

BOYS BASKETBALL 

REGULAR SEASON

¯ GRAND VALLEY 54, CONNEAUT 43: CONNEAUT — Cody Osburn had 15 of his 23 points in the second half as the Mustangs rallied to beat the Spartans.

Osburn had nine of Grand Valley’s points as the Mustangs outscored Conneaut 16-9 in the third quarter. Gabe Arsulic added 15 for Grand Valley.

Austin Dale led Conneaut with 18 points.
