Niles knocks off Boardman; McDonald, Windham win on road

NILES 48, BOARDMAN 42: BOARDMAN — The Red Dragons held Boardman to just seven first-half points. Dakota Naples made six baskets and all four of her free throws for 17 points.

Lauren Gabriele made three 3-pointers in her 21-point evening. However, the Spartans struggled in the first-half, as they were outscored, 20-7.

MCDONALD 37, SOUTHERN LOCAL 34: SALINEVILLE — McDonald (3-1) outscored Southern Local, 12-5, in the final quarter to pull out the close win behind a 17-point performance by Samantha Homa.

The Blue Devils trailed 12-6 after one quarter, 17-14 at halftime and 29-25 after three quarters. Sam Stitt and Britney Smith both scored eight points for McDonald.

WINDHAM 49, CHALKER 41: SOUTH-INGTON — Windham (2-0, 2-0 NAC) held off a Chalker rally and got a big second half from Lexi Knight, who scored all 16 of her team-high points after intermisison.

The Bombers led 22-17 at halftime and 33-30 after three quarters. The Wildcats (1-2, 0-1 NAC) could not get any closer than two points in the final quarter.

Chalker’s Courtney Warnick led all scorers with 17 points and Shae Keeley added nine points and 10 rebounds. Caitlyn Stuart led Chalker on the boards with 13 rebounds.

Windham got 13 points apiece from Mariah Walker and Cali Apthorpe, and the two had 15 and 11 rebounds, respectively.

PYMATUNING VALLEY 53, MAPLEWOOD 22: ANDOVER — Madison Hurst scored 13 of her game-high 17 points in a dominating first half for Pymatuning Valley.

The Lakers (2-2, 1-1) led 33-9 at halftime, led by Hurst, who also had a team-high seven steals. Ashley Hall added 14 points for PV.

Josie Campbell paced Maplewood (1-2, 0-2) with six points.

POLAND 75, LIBERTY 31: LIBERTY — The Bulldogs scored 32 points in the first quarter. Three players scored in double-figures, as Bella Gajdos had 14 points, Sarah Bury had 13 and Juliana Blangero finished with 12.

The Leopards were held to six first-half points and trailed by 41 at the break. China Tate made five field goals for 14 points.

BRISTOL 52, NEWBURY 24: BRISTOLVILLE — Bristol led 35-14 at halftime. Kendyl Switzer led the weay with 19 points, while Hailee Elza had a double-double. Elza finished with 14 points and 11 boards.

Newbury was held to just field goals, as it did most of its scoring from the foul line. The team went 17 of 19 from the charity stripe, led by A. Grubbs, who went 4 of 6. Grubbs had a team-high eight points on the night.

CARDINAL 40, GRAND VALLEY 31: ORWELL — The Mustangs were outscored 17-10 in the second half. Grand Valley (2-3) was just 11 of 51 from the field and 8 of 15 from the charity stripe. Allie Holmes had 18 of the team’s 36 rebounds, while three players (Cassandra Gallo, Leah Patterson and Genesis Foltz) scored six points each to lead the team in scoring.

LISBON 62, WESTERN RESERVE 29: BERLIN CENTER — The Blue Devils were outscored 37-14 in the second-half. Laura Sigworth made two of the team’s three 3-pointers for a total of six points.

Karlee Pezzano made eight field goals and 4 of 6 free throws for 23 points. Autumn Oldstrom and Mackenzie Mason added 12 points each.
