LaBrae and Brookfield both win on the road

LaBRAE 69, BERKSHIRE 56: BURTON — LaBrae opened its season with a huge first half, and the Vikings cruised past Berkshire in a non-confernece matchup.

Aaron Iler scored 12 of his 18 in the first half, when LaBrae (1-0) took a 42-22 lead. A balanced effort saw eight players score, inlcuding 16 from Logan Kiser and 11 from Carlton Brown.

The Vikings held off Ryan Johnson’s big night as he scored a game-high 28 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Badgers (0-2).

LaBrae plays Bristol in the Hope Classic at 7 p.m. Saturday.

BROOKFIELD 40, SOUTHEAST 26: PALMYRA — Brookfield outscored Southeast 21-8 in the second half to pull away from the host Pirates.

Brookfield (1-1) held an 18-17 advantage at halftime.

Chad Filipovich and Brian Hiner each had 11 points to lead the Warriors, who shot 13-of-29 from the floor. Southeast was 9-of-40.

Tommy Daily led the Pirates with eight points.

BOARDMAN 63, NILES 43: NILES — Boardman worked out to a 10-point lead, 48-3, over the first three quarters, then added 10 more points to the winning margin in the fourth quarter.

Travis Koontz scored 22 points to lead the Spartans John Ryan added 15, including four 3-pointers, and Holden Lipke scored 12.

Niles was led by Da’Jon Motley with 13 points and Ty’rese Williams with 11.

ALLIANCE 56, CANFIELD 55: CANFIELD — The Cardinals were outscored, 12-11, in the fourth quarter. Jake Cummings led the way with 14 points, while Ethan Kalina had 13 and Brandon McFall had 11.

The Aviators were outscored, 24-14, in the third quarter, but were still able to hang-on for the victory. Damice Hancock made 11 buckets for 26 points.
