JFK, Howland, Lakeview win on the road

JOHN F. KENNEDY 77, HEARTLAND CHRISTIAN 25: COLUMBIANA — John F. Kennedy hit eight 3-pointers in the first quarter and cruised past Heartland Christian.

Antonella LaMonica and Genie Orlosky each sank three 3s for the Eagles (2-1). LaMonica finished with a team-best 18 points, while Orlosky registered 13. JFK led 44-19 at halftime.

The Lions’ Ogden paced all scorers with 19.

HOWLAND 67, LAKESIDE 25: HOWLAND — The Tigers shut out the Dragons, 18-0, in the first quarter to get the rout started. Howland (4-1) led 33-9 at halftime and had a 22-2 edge in the third quarter.

Sara Price had 19 points and four steals for Howland, Mackenzie Maze contributed nine assists and seven points, Kayla Clark grabbed seven rebounds and Amber Rodriguez added eight points.

The Dragons (0-4) were led by Carly Aponte with 17 points.

LAKEVIEW 58, JEFFERSON 39: JEFFERSON — Jensen Silbaugh had 14 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists and Annie Pavlansky poured in 23 points to lead the Bulldogs (3-2).Lindsay Carnahan added 13 points to the Lakeview cause and Cammie Becker recorded seven steals.

Lakeview led 16-11 after one quarter, 31-21 at halftime and 48-28 after three quarters.

Jefferson was paced by Hannah Root with 17 points, including five 3-pointers.

BROOKFIELD 73, VALLEY CHRISTIAN 69: YOUNGSTOWN — Tori Sheehan scored 31 points and Bailey Drapola added 28 as Brookfield edged Valley Christian in two overtimes.

With the scored tied 55-55 after regulation — Brookfield had rallied from a 24-16 first-quarter deficit — the teams deadlocked 10-10 in the first overtime period. The Warriors (3-1) outscored the Eagles (1-2), 8-4, in the deciding overtime period.

Valley Christian got 21 points from India Snyder,18 from Daisjha Parks and 16 from Imane Snyder. Parks also had 11 rebounds.

BEAVER LOCAL 48, GIRARD 35: LISBON — Beaver Local used a big second quarter to pull away from the Indians in non-league matchup.

The Beavers outscored Girard, 16-6, in the second period after trailing by one following the first quarter. They extended the lead with a 15-9 edge in the third.

Megan Payich led the Indians (1-2) with 17 points, while Saralynn Essad added seven rebounds and five steals.

AUSTINTOWN FITCH 65, STRUTHERS 55: AUSTINTOWN — Sabria Hunter scored a game-high 25 points and helped the Falcons pull away from Struthers in a non-confernece clash.

Fitch led by five entering the final quarter and made 6-of-8 free throws in the fourth to seal the victory. Allexis Sallee scored 14 for the Falcons wand was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter. Camryn Constance added 10 points for Fitch.

Struthers took an 18-16 lead in the first quarter thanks to five 3-pointers, but the Wildcats only made one 3 in the second half and was outscored 32-25 in the final two quarters. Alexis Bury paced Struthers with 22 points, with Emily Grandy adding 16. Khaylan Brown nothced 11 for a balanced Wildcat attack.

AKRON HOBAN 76, URSULINE 69: YOUNGSTOWN — Dayshanette Harris poured in 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as Ursuline (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season in a game that had 62 free throws attempted.

Hoban (2-2) took a 20-12 lead after one quarter and the Irish reduced it to 36-30 at halftime and 52-47 after three quarters. The visitors held a 24-22 advantage in a wild fourth quarter.

Simone Comer scored 15 points and Anyah Curd added 10 for Ursuline.

Emma Tecca led Hoban with 22 points.

LOUISVILLE 57, CANFIELD 30: LOUISVILLE — Louisville dominated a non-conference matchup with Canfield.

The Leopards (3-2) led 31-14 at the half and put the game away with a 16-6 edge in the third quarter. Abby Beaver, Alexa Oberster and Sarah Lairson combiend for 40 points.

Jill Baker and Serena Sammarone each scored nine points for Canfield.

WINDHAM 46, ROOTSTOWN 30: WINDHAM — The Bombers turned up the defense after the first quarter to beat Rootstown. Windham led 15-14 after one quarter, then held the Rovers to single digits each of the last three quarters, building the lead to 25-20 at halftime and 33-24 after three quarters.

Lexi Knight scored 24 points and added 12 steals and seven rebounds for Windham. Cali Apthrope added 15 points and eight rebounds.
