Badger tops Mathews on last-second shot; McDonald rolls

BADGER 60, MATHEWS 58: VIENNA — Despite trailing the entire game, Badger came away with a last-second victory. Aiden Miller’s rebound and putback gave the Braves the hard-fought victory, improving them to 1-2 (1-2 in Northeastern Athletic Conference Stars Division). Miller led the way with 19 points.

Mathews (1-2, 1-2) fell apart in the second-half, as it was outscored, 34-20. Sean McDivitt made four of the team’s seven three’s, on his way to a 27-point night.

MCDONALD 123, COLUMBIANA 45: MCDONALD — The Blue Devils scored 67-first half points in the victory. McDonald made 18 3-pointers, 11 of which came from Zach Rasile. All 33 of Rasile’s points came from his 3-pointers.

The Clippers trailed by 39 points at halftime, as McDonald’s high-powered offense was too much for Columbiana. Burdette Baker made eight buckets for 20 points.

MAPLEWOOD 58, PYMATUNING VALLEY 24: MECCA — Zach Dawson had 20 points as the Rockets took a 14-3 lead after one quarter and never looked back in this Northeastern Athletic Conference, Stars Division game.

Matthew Sheely had 16, while Jared Bedlion added 10 for Maplewood (2-1, 1-1 NAC Stars).

Noah Silvers led PV with seven points.

LORDSTOWN 56, BLOOMFIELD 20: NORTH BLOOMFIELD — Dakota Bingham had 24 points to lead the Red Devils past the Cardinals in this NAC Stripes Division battle for the team’s first victory of the season.

Anthony Young added 12 for Lordstown (1-2, 1-2 NAC Stripes).

Isaiah Martin led Bloomfield (0-2, 0-1) with nine points.

WINDHAM 70, CHALKER 53: SOUTHINGTON — The Bombers led 16 points at half. Phillip Maiorca made six buckets for 17 points, while Eric Park made 8 of 12 free throws for 16 points.

Chalker went just 12 of 29 from the charity stripe. Justin Sherwood made four 3-pointers for 22 points. Tyler Caracunas and Dakota Whitt had 10 points each.

JACKSON-MILTON 86, HEARTLAND CHRISTIAN 33: COLUMBIANA — The Blue Jays rolled out to an 18-6 lead after one quarter and led 45-12 at halftime of the rout.

Noah Laster led the Blue Jays (2-1) with 18 points, Eric Ostrowski and Johnathon Voland added 11 each and Austin Christopher scored 10.

Ben Burgess led the Lions (0-3) with 19 points.

SOUTH RANGE 73, WESTERN RESERVE 54: BERLIN CENTER — Anthony Ritter’s 16 points led four players in double figures as the Raiders defeated the Blue Devils.

Dan Ritter and Brandon Youngs each had 15 points, while Jaxson Anderson added 11 for South Range (3-0).

Kade Hilles paced Western Reserve (2-1) with 18 points.

Girls

PINE-RICHLAND 73, HARDING 33: SHARON — Harding was outscored, 16-3, in the first quarter. The Raiders went just 4 of 13 from the line and made just a single 3-pointer. Toni Donaldson led the way with eight points.

Pine-Richland outscored Harding, 66-18, through three quarters of play. Amanda Kalin scored 21 points and Amay Juriscove added 15.
