Lakeview soccer teams are both No. 1 seeds

Lakeview’s boys and girls soccer teams did their campaigning on the pitch and both won their respective elections, earning top seeds in upcoming sectional/district tournament action.

The Bulldog boys are 14-0-1 and the girls are 10-3. Voting was done online and results were tabulated Saturday. Tournament pairings and schedules will be announced this week. Sectional tournaments for both soccer and volleyball begin next week.

In addition to the two Lakeview teams, other area top-seeded teams include Champion in Division III girls soccer, Newton Falls in Division III volleyball, Lordstown in Division III boys soccer and Cardinal Mooney in Division III girls soccer.

Area teams that were voted number two seeds in their respective district tournaments include Howland girls soccer in Division II, Maplewood boys soccer in Division III, Lordstown volleyball in Division IV and Canfield girls soccer in Division I and boys soccer in Division II.

Third-seeded teams include Lakeview volleyball in Division II, Newton Falls girls soccer in Division III, Niles girls soccer in Division II, Mathews volleyball in Division IV, Austintown Fitch girls soccer in Division I, Ursuline girls soccer in Division III, Poland boys soccer in Division II and Garfield volleyball in Division III.

Among fourth-seeded teams are Howland boys soccer in Division I, Hubbard boys soccer in Division II, Mineral Ridge boys soccer in Division III, Bristol volleyball in Division IV, Jackson-Milton volleyball in Division IV, Canfield volleyball in Division I, Poland girls soccer in Division II and Garfield girls soccer in Division III.

The first two rounds of tournament play – the sectional rounds – will be played at the home site of the better-seeded team. Two rounds of district tournament games will be played at neutral sites with district champions advancing to the Sweet 16, or regional, level of competition.
