3 locals to D2 district tennis

BOARDMAN – John F. Kennedy’s Kaytlin Marlatt, Lakeview’s Laura Garvin and Ursuline’s Lexi Tsudis all advanced to the Division II district girls tennis tournament next week at Akron’s Springside Racket and Tennis Club.

Marlatt, the No. 1 seed at the Boardman sectional, defeated Liberty’s Bryanna Landers, 6-0, 6-0, in Thursday’s quarterfinals. She’ll play Tsudis on Saturday in the sectional semifinals.

Tsudis, the No. 4 seed, defeated Poland’s Sophia Delatore, 6-2, 6-1, on Thursday. Lakeview’s Laura Garvin, meanwhile, defeated Poland’s Lauren Pepperney, 6-4, 6-2. Garvin, an unseeded player, will face Salem’s Ashtyn Morris, the No. 2 seed, on Saturday. Morris defeated Ursuline’s Vy Hoang, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, in the quarterfinals.

All four semifinalists qualify for the district which will begin Thursday next week. District semifinals and finals will be held on that Saturday, Oct. 15.
