G-Men stay unbeaten; GV crushes Chalker

GARRETTSVILLE – Garfield stayed undefeated as its balanced attack overwhelmed Crestview in a 41-14 non-conference victory.

The G-Men (5-0) ran for 183 yards and passed for 184. They scored the first 31 points and held Crestview (2-3) to 37 passing yards. Garfield quarterback Dalton Fall completed 13-of-19 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Kyle Borrelli ran for two TDs.

Andrew Yanssens led the Rebels with 110 rushing yards.

GRAND VALLEY 51, CHALKER 19: ORWELL – Grand Valley outgained Chalker, 413 yards to 223, in the Northeastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

The Mustangs (4-1 overall) had three scoring plays of at least 68 yards and two others of 47 and 28.

Nick Reichek started things off with an 80-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and Cody Rhoads added a 68-yard punt return for a score. Michael McGovern raced 70 yards for a TD in the second half.

Dakota Whitt caught four passes for 53 yards and Trystan Mollohan passed for 118 yards for Chalker (2-3).

WINDHAM 27, LUTHERAN EAST 26: WINDHAM – The Bombers rallied back from a 13-point, fourth-quarter deficit. Hunter Shackelford rushed for two touchdowns in the quarter, while Blaze Angle had the game-winner with 1:52 remaining.

Windham (3-2) got off to a slow start but ran for 258 yards. Shackelford rushed for 130, while Phillip Maiorca added 100. Tyler Collins caught two passes for 31 yards.

Lutheran East (2-3) was held to just 107 rushing yards and had a pair of turnovers. Mike McCarey connected with T.J. Blevins twice in the first quarter, but East was held to just 12 points from that point on.

PYMATUNING VALLEY 24, ASHTABULA ST. JOHN 13: ANDOVER – Gaige Willis ran for three touchdowns in the first quarter and added another score to clinch the game in the final quarter on the way to a 320-yard game.

Luke Hockran added 145 yards for the Lakers (2-3) as they totalled 467 yards on the ground against the Heralds (0-5).

CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS 41, CARDINAL 13: CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS – Cuyahoga Heights ran for 298 yards and five touchdowns in a dominant Chagrin Valley Conference victory.

Cardinal (1-4) ran for 300 yards in the loss, with Kyle Simms rushing for 133 yards and one TD on 16 carries. It was too little too late for the Huskies, who completed just 1-of-9 passes for 16 yards with two interceptions.
